- open lab times where EnCourage teacher is available to assist students
- requires minimum of 4 students
Apex Learning Digital Curriculum
- Aligned with Michigan High School Content Standards
- Combines online instruction with teacher-based instruction
- Flexible options enable students to learn high school curriculum with appropriate challenges for their ability
- Select courses approved by NCAA for students wishing to compete in college athletics
Apex Foundations Courses
- For both high school and transitioning middle school students who are not prepared for grade-level academic challenges
- Develop skills in reading, writing and math
- Designed for students 13 and older
- Offer about 70-90 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice and assessment
Courses offered:
- Math Foundations I and II
- English Foundations I and II
Apex Advanced Placement Courses
- Meet higher-education expectations of college-level courses and prepare students for success on the AP exams
- Target highly motivated students who are reading at grade level or above and who have a track record of success in high school coursework
- Offer about 120-150 hours of direct instruction and assessment
Courses offered:
- Math: AP Calculus, AP Statistics
- Science: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Psychology
- English: AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition
- Social Studies: AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP U.S. History
- World Languages: AP French Language and Composition, AP Spanish Language and Composition
Apex General Studies (all qualify for credit recovery as well as regular high school credits for home school families)
The general studies curriculum features three course pathways to prepare all high school graduates for college and work. The courses in the three pathways share a common scope and sequence and cover the same standards-based content.
Literacy Advantage Courses:
- Support academic success for students who are reading below proficient
- Assist students in mastering required math, science, English and social studies content to earn credits toward graduation, while simultaneously developing reading skills
- Offer about 60-80 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice and assessment
Core Courses:
- Assume readiness for grade-level academic challenges
- Include targeted scaffolding for students who benefit from additional learning support
- Offer about 70-90 hours of interactive direct instruction, guided practice and assessment
Honors Courses:
- Meet the needs of motivated students seeking to accelerate their learning
- Includes many opportunities to apply, extend and synthesize knowledge
- Prepare students for the rigors of AP courses
- Offer about 90-120 hours of direct instruction, guided practice, robust enrichment and assessment
